Although powder coating and painting offer customers numerous benefits, there can be areas inaccessible to conventional spray applications. Electro-deposition coating (e-coating) solves this problem through an immersion process providing paint coverage in recesses, minute holes and other hard to reach spaces. While e-coating is widely used as a primer coat for powder coating or painting, the process has gained popularity as a final finish as well. We offer PPG’s Powercron 6000CX (Black) to produce an economical, durable finish that is HAPs free, heavy metal free and lead free.
E-Coating Process
Total Paint Coverage
On our e-coat line, operators rack metal parts on a conveyorized line. The parts go through the appropriate pretreatment stages prior to being immersed in an aqueous solution containing a paint emulsion. The parts are electrically charged thus attracting the oppositely charged paint particles. The thickness of the coating is determined by the electrical voltage setting. After coating, parts are rinsed to remove residual emulsion which is recycled back in to the paint tank. Finally, parts enter a curing oven to be cured.
